ASHTABULA — Donald Leroy Long Sr., age 80, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.

He was born August 12, 1933, in Fremont, the son of Ralph and Irma (Zickafose) Long and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1968. He married Lucille Jean (Marrone) Franco on June 8, 1974.

Prior to his retirement in 1995, he worked 39 years at Ohio Outdoor Advertising posting billboards. He attended First Grace Gospel Church, enjoyed fishing and bowling, and loved Pepsi cola. A dedicated Cleveland Browns fan, he also loved attending amusement parks and fairs.

His survivors include six children, Rick (Janet) Long of Mulberry, Texas, Timothy Long of Sherman, Texas, Annette (Joseph) Acierno of Ashtabula, Donald (Dena) Long Jr. of Pikeville, Ky., Keith (Nina Cope) Long of Warren and Colleen (Gary) Dinger of Roaming Shores; 16 grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, Krista, Donald Lee, Adam, Mellisa, Jonathan, Kyle, John Paul, David, Kody, Kassie, Laura, Zachary, Kole and Brandon; numerous great-grandchildren; four sisters, Delores of Fremont, Mary of West Lewisburg, Patricia of Bloomfield and Audry of Gallipolis; one brother, David Long of Peoples; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife, dear friend and mother of his children, Dorothy (Ratliff) Long-Campbell of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Jean Long on Dec. 28, 2000; his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Long; four sisters, Lucille, Margie, Viola and Phyllis; two brothers, Ralph and Thomas in infancy; and his parents.

A Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3rd, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Pastor David Adams, of First Grace Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery, Saybrook Township.

Calling Hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2nd, at the Funeral Home.
