ASHTABULA — Laurie Whitted, age 86, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Saybrook Landing.
She was born July 17, 1927, in Dermott, Ark., the daughter of Leonard and Hattie May (Ragland) Barker and had been a longtime Ashtabula resident.
Laurie was a longtime associate with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She worked for Yoder Brothers Greenhouse for 18 years before her retirement. Laurie enjoyed cooking and such hobbies as macramé, and canning.
Her survivors include a son, Gary Whitted of Ashtabula; her daughter, Mae Whitted of St. Petersburg, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; two sisters, Charlotte Howze of Long Beach, Calif.; and Linda Jean and her spouse Louis McDaniel of Bastrop, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Venus Whitted; one daughter, Edolphia Whitted; one sister, Mary Catherine Block; one brother, Willie Spencer; and her parents.
At this time, no services are scheduled. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, North Kingsville, Ohio.
