CONNEAUT — Florence Roselle (née: Bright) Sanders, age 98, of S. Parrish Road, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born May 12, 1911, in Norfolk, Va., to the late William W. and Annie (Fleming) Bright, she was one of 10 children. Florence has resided in Conneaut for the past nine years, prior to that she lived in California.
Florence was a life member of the Ashtabula VFW #943 and also a member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #151. Florence and her husband, Delvin “Sandy”, were very active in the VFW in California. In 1990-1991, they were both District Commander and President of the 7th District. She and her husband, Delvin, loved going to dance for many hours at the Ashtabula VFW on Saturday nights.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and doing her word search puzzle books. She was also a wonderful cook and known for her deviled eggs.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Mead of Ratcliff, Ky., Margaret “Peg” Lowery of Conneaut and Marlene Yoshida of Keaau, Hawaii. Florence was a grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delvin; daughters, Judy Plowman-Carter and Jean Seifert; sons, Daryel E. Baldree and Robert J. Crowley; and several brothers and sisters.
The family would like to especially thank her wonderful caregivers, her granddaughters, Rose Ann and Charlene Heath; Peg’s niece, Judy A. Sacket; her friend, Bill “Frosty” Frost; and also Ashtabula Regional Home Health and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their wonderful staff and the care she was given.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in her name to the family or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
