Published August 28, 2008 08:05 pm - Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 Ninetta Viton Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 Star Beacon PLYMOUTH Twp. — Ninetta “Kitty” Viton, age 84, of Jefferson Road in Plymouth Twp., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Sept. 20, 1923, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Glenn and Audrey (McGough) Hawes and has been a lifetime area resident, graduating from Ashtabula High School in 1941. During World War II, she worked in an Airplane Factory in Akron. She raised her children, then worked for Bargain Mart, Farmers Bank and retired from the Ashtabula Telephone Company. She is a 60-year-plus member of the Jefferson Grange; a former member of the Lake Erie Chapter #10 OES; The Grottoets. She had been a poll worker in Plymouth Township, a Girl Scout Leader in the 1960’s, had an extensive thimble collection, and had been a member of the Plymouth School boosters. Surviving her are a son, Joseph (Gina) Viton of Plymouth Twp.; daughter, Glenetta (Bruce) Campbell of Plymouth Twp; five grandchildren, Joy, Eileen, James, Ariel and James G.; and six great-grandchildren, Anna, Audra, Bryan, Jonathon, Howie and Eric. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James J. Viton, in 1984. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Michael Legg of the Ashtabula Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Plymouth Twp. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m., today, at the Funeral Home.
