Harold Harris Sunday, July 27, 2008 Star Beacon CONNEAUT — Harold Harris, age 84, of Conneaut, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Carington Park in Ashtabula.
Born Oct. 26, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of Walter James and Helen Yocum Harris. A Veteran, he served in the United States Army during World War II, until he was honorably discharged in 1944. Harold was employed with Foseco for 30 years, working in the furnace area until he retired, and also worked for Giant Eagle in Conneaut as a stock person and bagger, until they closed. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Odd Fellows, was a Captain of the IOOF and a former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen's Center every day to play bingo and cards, and was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He is survived by a daughter, Anita Harris; a sister, Donna Jean Shields of El Paso, Tex.; seven grandchildren; his girlfriend, Rose Campbell, whom he resided with; step-daughter, Cheryl and Greg Duhamell; and a step-son, Harry Clauson. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Bacon Harris; and his second wife, Ida Mae Harris in 2001 Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut. Graveside Services will be held immediately following calling hours at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Kelloggsville Cemetery, with Rev. Jonathon Singer of the First Baptist Church officiating.
