Britton Sunday, July 27, 2008 Star Beacon TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Wanda M. Britton, age 80, died on Friday, July 25, 2008, in Tallahassee, Fla.
Born Aug. 29, 1947, in Andover, Ohio, she was the daughter of Sherman M. and Gladys E. (Hall) Smock, and a 1945 graduate of Andover High School. Mrs. Britton was a bookkeeper for the Ohio Edison Company in Andover, Bill Hall Chevrolet of Andover, and for Roberts Sand Company of Tallahassee, Fla. She was a member and treasurer of the Lake Ellen Baptist Church in Medart, Fla., where she loved to teach the adult women’s Sunday School class. She was also the treasurer of the Panacea Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Britton enjoyed cross stitching, doing crossword puzzles, reading and collecting bells and Avon plates. Survivors include a son, R. Rex (Janet) Britton of Andover, Ohio; daughter, Diane M. (Jim) Curlee of Crawfordville, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Britton of New Lyme, Ohio; brother, Harry (Joan) Smock of Andover, Ohio; three granddaughters, Renae, Pam, and Paulette; six grandsons, Neil, Todd, Troy, Donnie, Gary, Jr., and Tim; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, D. Lyle Britton, whom she married on July 4, 1947; her parents; daughter, Pamela Rae Britton; son, Gary L. Britton, Sr.; and two sisters, Shirley Corlew and Lois Hawkins. A Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL HOME, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at the Funeral Home.
