Mary H. Palm Saturday, July 19, 2008 Star Beacon KINGSVILLE — Mary H. Palm, age 77, formerly of Saybrook Township, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1930, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Leslie and Helen (McGrath) Keeflin and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1948 graduate of Ashtabula High School, she received three years of nurses training at St. John Hospital and worked at Ashtabula General Hospital for a short time as a surgical nurse. A member of Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva, she enjoyed knitting, baking cupcakes, and traveling (especially her trip to Ireland). Her greatest joy in life however, was her grandchildren. Her survivors include six children, Paul and Chris Palm, both of Ashtabula, Mary B. Palm and Tim Palm, both of Jefferson, and Tricia Palm and Sheila Koch, both of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Tim, Ashley, Ryan, Brendan, David, Nick, Graham, Megan, and Michael; and several cousins including Kathy and Jack Reis, whom she was very close to. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay “Jake” B. Palm on Jan. 7, 1994; one son, Dennis Palm; one brother, Calvin Keeflin; and her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 21, at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main Road, Geneva. Fr. Paul Tobin will preside. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 P.M. on Sunday, July 20, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004, or to the Ed Armstrong Scholarship Fund at Lakeside High School, in care of Larry Haines, 2412 Deerfield Drive, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. www.ducro.com or www.starbeacon.com
