ASHTABULA — Jerry Dingess, age 61, of West 48th St., died unexpectedly Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his home.
Born April 9, 1948, in Wharncliffe, W.Va., he was the son of John L. and Lake (Cantrell) Dingess and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years before receiving a disability pension in 1996.
Jerry loved to collect classic Coca-Cola memorabilia.
His survivors include his wife, Ellen (Eggert), whom he married Feb. 17, 1989; two sons, Christopher Dingess of Charlotte, N.C., and Ryan Dingess of Ashtabula; two brothers, Elby Dingess of Geneva and Lawrence Dingess of Fairport Harbor; one sister, Sarah Jane Fly of Williamstown, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Mitchem, Shirley Mercer and Betty Lou Martin; one brother, Willie Dingess; and his parents.
At his request, private services will be held.
