CONNEAUT — Homer “Ken” Green, age 71, of Keefus Road, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at University Hospital following a short illness.
He was born June 7, 1938, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Homer and Sarah (Davidson) Green and had been a life-long area resident.
A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an independent contractor and member of First Church of God in Ashtabula. He loved to sing gospel and country music and play the organ, and he spent much of his time singing and playing at his church, the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and the high-rise apartments.
A charter boat captain, he repaired boats and was a marine surveyor. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to play cards, especially “rook,” with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Green, whom he married Dec. 19, 1998; his children, Ken “Chip” (Jaclyn) Green, Amy Jo Green and Kelly Green, all of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Heidi Green, Sally Green and Cindy Green, all of Ashtabula; his stepsons, Rick and Jason Rice, both of Ashtabula; and his sister, Sarah Irving of Austinburg.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Rusty Irving; and his parents.
A Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1st, at First Church of God, 1910 S. Ridge Road W., Ashtabula with Full Military Honors. The Rev. Hal Morgan will officiate.
Calling Hours will be held at First Church of God on Wednesday, July 1st, from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
Contributions may be made to the family, in care of DUCRO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, who is in charge of arrangements.
