HAMBDEN TOWNSHIP — Harry E. Knaus, age 84, of Hambden Township, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at his residence.
Born Dec. 29, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived in Trumbull Township for 36 years before moving to Hambden 12 years ago. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He retired as a truck driver from the E.F. Connelly Construction Company.
He was a member of SNPJ Lodge #142, AFU Lodge #132, Teamsters Local 436 and the Musicians Union.
He played drums in the polka band “Musical Men” in the 60’s - 70’s. He was active at the Burrough of SNPJ in Enon Valley, Pa., with all their activities and was fondly known as “Top of the Hill Harry”.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary (née: Grill); daughter, Rebecca (husband, Gene) Nipple; son, Roderick; grandchildren, Lisa (Rony) Buie and Eric (Patty) Mampel; and great-grandchildren, James, Tylor, Brett, Trey and Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorelei; and brother, Frank Knaus Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 1st, at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio. Burial will be in Trumbull Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Today, Tuesday, June 30th, at the DAN COSIC FUNERAL HOME, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Rt. 91), Willoughby Hills, Ohio.
