— ROAMING SHORES — Joe Strong Sr., age 58, passed away Sunday evening, June 28, 2009.
He was born on August 22, 1950, in Lake City, Tenn., the son of Cecil and Leva (Phillips) Strong. Mr. Strong was married to Mary (Schartner) Strong for the past 27 years.
Joe was the former Mayor of Roaming Shores Village from 1998 to 2002. In addition, he was a member of the Rome Volunteer Fire Department and the Bainbridge, Ohio, Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by three children, Joe (Melissa) Strong Jr. of Ravenna, Ohio, Dan and Tiffany Strong, both of Roaming Shores. Also, he is survived by his brother and sister, Jerry (Janet) Strong of Mantua, Ohio, and Pam (Robert) Kramer of Bainbridge, Ohio. He was a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren and will be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his brother, Ken Strong and sister, Jane Strong.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2nd, at the PAINE-GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, Ohio.
Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, July 1st, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations by made to the Rome Volunteer Fire Department. Donations cards will be available at the Funeral Home.
