CONNEAUT — Graveside Services for Deborah L. Church of Conneaut, Ohio, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont, Ohio, with the Rev. Franklin J. Gore, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating.
Deborah (Litwiler) Church, age 56, died June 26, 2008, after a short battle with cancer, with her husband, family and friends by her side.
Born Dec. 6, 1951, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of the late Roger Litwiler, and Doris Brothers of Erie, Pa. A 1970 Conneaut High School graduate, she majored in German and French at Gannon University, and taught those languages at Corry High School, Corry, Pa.
In 1978, she changed careers and followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming one of the first women State Farm Insurance agents in Ohio. She enjoyed her business, especially taking care of her customers, and won numerous awards from State Farm during her 30 years in Conneaut.
She enjoyed reading, music and had a passion for quilting. Her quilts were displayed at arts centers from Conneaut to Cleveland. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Tyler, and her son, A.J. Pearce.
On March 25, 2000, Debbie married her “first-ever boyfriend when she was 11 years old” and one of her best friends, Nic Church, at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., where Nic was working. The wedding ceremony was totally orchestrated by the cadets.
She is survived by her husband, Nic Church of Conneaut; her son, A.J. Pearce; her grandson, Tyler; her mother, Doris Brothers; two brothers, Roger Litwiler and Jeffrey Litwiler; and her sister, Heidi Litwiler.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Litwiler.
Friends and family are asked to gather at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 27th, in the parking lot of the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, to join in the procession to Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont, for the Graveside Service.
