WAVERLY — Corrine Marie (Nordquest) Harrer, age 86, died Friday, May 22, 2009, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Clara and Harmon Nordquest.
She was a graduate of Harbor High School and Schoffer College in Cleveland. Corrine served as a Christian missoinary to South Africa for five years. Upon returning to the U.S., she worked as a librarian at the Congregational Church Library in Boston, at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary Library and Yale Divinity School Library until retirement.
On July 27, 1984, she married John Harrer. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Ashtabula. Throughout her life, she supported charitable work focused on feeding the hungry, such as Bread for the World and the Heifer Project.
Survivors include a sister, Juanita Rhinehart; brother, Harland Nordquest; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harrer; her parents; and brothers, Leslie and Richard Nordquest;
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, in Waverly, Ohio. Corrine donated her body to the Ohio State University Medical School.
