— HAMBDEN Twp. — Donald “Don” A. Hurd, age 67, of Hambden Twp., Ohio, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at UH-Geauga Medical Center, Claridon Twp.
He was born June 21, 1940, in Montville Twp., Ohio, and was a lifelong Geauga County resident. He married Doris Bosworth, Nov. 7, 1979, in Chardon, Ohio.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Tulley, Greenland.
Don was an over-the-road Truck Driver for 40 years, and the last 21 years, for Manfriedi Trucking, Newbury, Twp., retiring in 2000.
Mr. Hurd was an avid Antique Tractor collector and a member of the Geauga County Antique Tractor Pullers Association. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Bosworth) of Hambden Twp., Ohio; children, Linda Griffith of Huntsburg Twp., Ohio, Kathy (Bill) Spreitzer of Huntsburg Twp., Ohio, Donald (Mary) Hurd, Jr. of Rayville, La., and Nile Hurd of Middlefield, Ohio; step-daughters, Nedra (John) Schaefer of Burton, Ohio, Donna Castora of Rome, Ohio, and Virginia (Richard) Myers of Burton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert “Bob” Hurd of Hambden Twp., Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alga and Gertrude (McClintock) Hurd; and siblings, Algene Tribble, Neil Hurd, and Sue Hurd.
Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Monday, May 19, at the BURR FUNERAL HOME, 116 South St. (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/ Chardon Square), Chardon, Ohio, with the Rev. Murray Bay, of Country Baptist Church of Mantua, officiating. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m., tomorrow, May 18, at the Funeral Home.
