Donald A. Hurd Saturday, May 17, 2008 Star Beacon HAMBDEN Twp. — Don ald “Don” A. Hurd, age 67, of Hambden Twp., Ohio, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at UH-Geauga Medical Center, Claridon Twp.
He was born June 21, 1940, in Montville Twp., Ohio, and was a lifelong Geauga County resident. He married Doris Bos worth, Nov. 7, 1979, in Chardon, Ohio. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Tulley, Greenland. Don was an over-the-road Truck Driver for 40 years, and the last 21 years, for Manfriedi Truck ing, Newbury, Twp., retiring in 2000. Mr. Hurd was an avid Antique Tractor collector and a member of the Ge au ga County Antique Trac tor Pullers Asso ciation. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Bosworth) of Hambden Twp., Ohio; children, Linda Griffith of Huntsburg Twp., Ohio, Kathy (Bill) Spreitzer of Huntsburg Twp., Ohio, Donald (Mary) Hurd, Jr. of Rayville, La., and Nile Hurd of Middlefield, Ohio; step-daughters, Nedra (John) Schaefer of Burton, Ohio, Donna Castora of Rome, Ohio, and Virginia (Richard) Myers of Burton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert “Bob” Hurd of Hambden Twp., Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alga and Gertrude (McClin tock) Hurd; and siblings, Algene Tribble, Neil Hurd, and Sue Hurd. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Monday, May 19, at the BURR FU NERAL HOME, 116 South St. (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/ Char don Square), Chardon, Ohio, with the Rev. Mur ray Bay, of Country Baptist Church of Man tua, officiating. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m., tomorrow, May 18, at the Funeral Home.
