ASHTABULA — Helen B. Burgard, age 80, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008, at University Hospital of Cleveland.
Born Aug. 3, 1927, in Doddridge County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Howard and Goldie (Cooper) Carroll and has resided in Ashtabula most of her life. On June 10, 1948, she married Samuel W. Burgard Jr. in St. Louis, Mich.
A homemaker, she enjoyed baking and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Genevieve Blankenship of Ashtabula, Roberta (Jim) Turner of Oregon, Mary (Bill) Whittington of Andover, Larry (Violet) Blanton of Ashtabula, Howard Burgard of Michigan, Dennis (Mary) Barnum of Michigan and Sam (Susan) Burgard of Las Vegas, Nev.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Carroll of Nevada; and a sister, Bobbie Ralston of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel W. Burgard Jr.; grandchild, Frankie Wills; great-grandchild, Brianna; sisters, Pauline Smith and Irene Bish; and a brother, Eugene Carroll.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, Ohio, with the Rev. Harry Pishcura, of New Life Assembly of God in Geneva, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
