ASHTABULA — Beverly J. McClain, age 78, of Fargo Drive, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Oct. 27, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Myron C. and Bernadine (Haring) Carle.
For nine years, she had been a teacher’s aide in the Buckeye School District and a Nurse’s aide for fifteen years at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was an active member of the East Side Presbyterian Church where she was a deaconess and had sung in the church choir. She was also a member of the Orion Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star and a former member of the Star Lighters. She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, crafts and music.
Surviving her is her son, Michael L. (Debbie) McClain of Ashtabula; her daughter-in-law, Patty McClain of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sean M. McClain and Dyan K. McClain; and two sisters, Phyllis Shinault of Kingsville and Sharon Brockett of Deerfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Ruth Carle in 2003; her husband, Harold McClain in 2001; her son, Thomas E. McClain in 2005; and by her brother, Charles Green.
A Eastern Star Service will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, followed by a Funeral Service officiated by the Rev. Shane Nanney of the East Side Presbyterian Church.
Calling Hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
