ASHTABULA — Glenna Swanson, age 94, of N. Ridge Road West, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at her home.
Born to the late William and Della (McMillion) Hinkle, on May 13, 1913, in Friars Hill, W.Va., she moved to Ohio in 1933, and graduated from Kingsville High School in that same year.
Glenna worked for Aetna Rubber Company for a number or years, was a supervisor at Yoder Brothers Greenhouse, and worked at Buckeye Local Schools in food service.
She was an active member and a Deaconess of the First Baptist Church, belonged to Dorcas Circle, and did volunteer work for the American Red Cross and ACMC. Glenna loved her Lord, family, friends, flowers and birds, as well as, her independence and her daily walks.
She is survived by her two sons, C. William (Joyce) Swanson of Ashtabula, and Gene (Georgia) Swanson of Lake Forest, Calif.; five grandchildren, Steve (Dawn) Swanson of Cleveland, Amanda (Scot) Busser of Farmdale, David (Linda) Swanson of Calif., Tim and Gregory Swanson of Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Monica, Philip, Spencer, Chloe, Charlie, Chandler and Juleah; and one sister, Ressa Olin of Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl G. Swanson; her infant brother, Gorman Hinkle; her brother Cecil Hinkle; and her parents.
A Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, 4353 Park Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, with Pastor Doug Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday May, 5, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, and one half-hour prior to the start of the Service, at the church.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
