— OGDENSBURG, N.Y. — Funeral Services for Merle M. Gaines, age 72, of Jay St., Ogdensburg, N.Y., will be 7 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2008, at the V.F.W. on Depot St., Geneva, Ohio.
Born on Aug. 27, 1935, in Ohio, he was the son of Arthur and Anna (Yates) Gaines. He was raised by Leo Reynolds and Anna Gaines, after Arthur’s death. Merle was a well known football athlete during his high school years.
A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy, for four years. After the service, he was a bartender at the Eagles Club and V.F.W.
Survivors include on son, James and his wife Carin of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; one daughter, Stephanie Logan of Toledo, Ohio; one twin sister, Merilyn LeMay of Geneva, Ohio; sister, Marion Volpone and her husband August of Geneva, Ohio; one brother, Harry of Ashtabula, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one sister, Verna Spellman.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Ohio.
