MONTGOMERY, Al. — Ira Joseph Roberts, age 61, a resident of Montgomery, Ala., died peacefully at home, on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
A Veteran, Mr. Roberts proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 42 years, Sandra Roberts; one son, Robert Joseph Roberts and his girlfriend, Jenna Bashaw; one daughter, Tammy (Walter) Castle; his parents, Reverend Henry H. and Angie Roberts; seven grandchildren, Jessica Castle, Matthew Castle, Mitchell Castle, Caitlin Castle, Nathan Roberts, Jamie Roberts, and Megan Roberts; two brothers, Mitchell (Linda) Roberts, and Reverend Kenneth (Debbie) Roberts; his church family of Spirit Walk; and one special dog, “Pockets.”
Pallbearers will be Robert Joseph Roberts, Walter Castle, Donnie Hopper, Jr., Paul Hudgins, Jimmy Seamon, and Bruce Wimmer, and honorary pallbearers will be Charles Taylor and Bill Godwin.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at The Anointed Remnant Church of God, with the Reverend Billy Driver and the Reverend Rob Coburn, officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, May 2, 2008, at PRATTVILLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 841 Fairview Ave., Prattville, Ala. Mr. Roberts will lie-in-state one half-hour prior to his service.
