ASHTABULA — Denise Marie Crockett, age 53, of East 27th St., died unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home.
She was born August 5, 1954, in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of William “Red” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Tulino) Heasley and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life.
She attended St. John High School and, prior to her retirement for health reasons, worked in the quality control department for Channel Products, Inc. in Jefferson.
A member of Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, she enjoyed shopping for deals on QVC, plants and gardening, and attending church.
Her survivors include three children, Melissa Heasley, Calvin L. (Erin) Gunter and Corie Gunter, all of Ashtabula; two step-sons, Brian (Heather) Crockett and Kendall Thomas; 13 grandchildren, Jade (Kevin Burnette), Marcel, JaMar, JaMirra, Ja-Breya, Jaylen, Joshua, Calvin Jr., Nicole, Treveon, Trinity, Malik and Te’Airra; two sisters, Roberta Lane of Dorset and Clarice Wofford of Ashtabula; and her longtime friend, Calvin S. Gunter of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Crockett; one daughter, Jade Gunter; one son in infancy; and her parents.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Supt. David Howard, of Hiawatha COGIC, will officiate.
No calling hours will be observed.
