— ASHTABULA — Robert G. Kapferer Jr., age 67, of Fargo Drive, died Monday evening, April 28, 2008, in the emergency room at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born June 6, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Robert G. and Gertrude (Slavin) Kapferer. He married Ann Sturgill on April 2, 1960, in Jefferson, Ohio, and has been a resident here most of his life.
In 1999, he retired from Morton Salt Company in Fairport Harbor, after 30 years of employment.
He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and working in his wood shop. He is also a member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Robert Allen (Denise) of Jefferson, Scott Kevin (Lori Brennan) of Kingsville, Kenneth John of Conneaut and Shannon Marie Whitt (Danny) of Monroeville; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Kurtis, Haley and Jamie Kapferer, Monique Kapferer Alvarez, Blake Kapferer, Samantha Whitt and Megan Brennan; two great-grandchildren, Adam Ferriera and Sera Alvarez; sisters, Trudy M. Pitts, Lillian L. Howe, Donna J. Thomas and Diane M. Sturgill; and one brother, George A. Kapferer.
He was preceded by his parents.
Services will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shirley Deemer officiating. Burial will follow in Lenox Center Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.
