Published January 13, 2009 06:07 pm - Wednesday, January 14, 2009 MARS, Pa. — Jane Elizabeth Foy, age 82, formerly of 2919 Cochran St., Erie, Pa., passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, under the care of St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars, Pa. Jane E. Foy Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Star Beacon MARS, Pa. — Jane Elizabeth Foy, age 82, formerly of 2919 Cochran St., Erie, Pa., passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, under the care of St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars, Pa.
Born in Erie, Pa., on April 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Lawrence Albert and Hazel Mae (Pieper) Foy. Also preceded in death by a sister, the late Doris Foy Doucette, and sister in-law, Geraldine E. Foy. Jane had moved to the north Pittsburgh area in 2000 and was a resident at St. John's Specialty Care Center since 2002. Miss Foy was a graduate of Villa Maria College, Class of 1948, and received a Masters of Education in 1968 from Gannon University. She was a home economics teacher at McDowell High School for 15 years and became a vocation education consultant with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. She served in that capacity for 22 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Peach St., Erie, Pa. She was also a member of the PA Association of School Retirees, the PA Association of Retired State Employees, A.V.A., A.H.E.A., Betsy Ross Chapter No. 385 Order of the Eastern Star and St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary. Jane is survived by a twin brother, James F. Foy of Allison Park, Pa.; and five nieces, Deborah Foy (Mike) Herron of Gibsonia, Pa., Renee Foy of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Sandra Doucette (Skip) Bartlett, Denise Doucette (Jim) Carpenter and Sheree Doucette (Jim) Lomax, all of California. She is also survived by five grandnephews. Private viewing and services are being held at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, LTD., Bakerstown, Pa., with the Rev. Terry Stoops officiating. Private interment will be held in Sterrettania Cemetery, Sterrettania, Pa. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach St., Erie, Pa. 16502 or St. John Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenberg Way, Mars, Pa. 16046.
