Geneva, Edgewood win in J-Town

Eagle boys, Warrior girls prevail in night relays

— The Geneva boys and Edgewood girls managed to amass just enough points to claim the team titles at the Falcon Night Relays on Friday at Falcon Pride Stadium.

The Eagles narrowly topped Edgewood, 110-106, to win the boys title. Jefferson was third with 92 points, Pymatuning Valley placed fourth with 64 and Conneaut was fifth 40 points.

In the girls competition, the Warriors netted 96 points to better Jefferson by six. PV was third with 84 points, Hathaway Brown was fourth 72 and Conneaut placed fifth with 48.



Boys

Geneva’s 1,600-meter relay team of Marshall LaRiche, Austin Clutter, Mac Parker and Buddy Cardaman took first, while the team from Edgewood took fourth, giving the Eagles the title.

Geneva’s Geoff Hallam, Cardaman, Lucas Laurenty and Mac Parker claimed the 800-meter sprint medley title just prior to the 1,600 relay to put the Eagles in control of their own destiny. The Warriors’ were also fourth in that race while Jefferson’s Joey Babic, Jacob Hamilton, Derek Parker and David Chase won.

Also claiming wins for Geneva were the team of Casey, Andrew Hanchosky, Mac Parker and Tyler Hobel in the 3,200-meter relay. Weight-man’s 400-relay went to the Eagles’ team of Laurenty, Zach Zehe, Drew Herman and Seth Calhoun.

The Warriors got victories in the 6,400-meter relay, distance medley, 800-meter relay, the long jump, high jump and shot put relays.

The Falcons’ Jacob Hamilton cleared a school-record 13-7 in the pole in giving his team a victory in the event. It was also a meet and course record. Jefferson also had wins in the 400-meter relay, 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay and discus relay.



Girls

Taylor Hawkins, Karli Kanicki, Michellle Gaggiano and Sarah Stell teamed to win the sprint medley while Jefferson placed fourth to give the Warriors the team victory.

Edgewood’s only other wins came from the team of Cortney Humphrey, Jillian Dick and Morgan Pack in the discus relay, Humphrey, Abby Volpi and Dick in shot put relay.

Kaydee DeVivo, Lauren Buzzard, Shannen Bartone and Sarah Jeppesen won the 400-meter relay for the Falcons. Buzzard, DeVivo, Heather Hamilton and Kourtney Lane won the shuttle hurdles, DeVivo, Hamilton, Bartone and Jeppesen tallied a victory in the 800-meter relay. Also victorious was the 412-meter relay team of LeeAnn Farr, Tayler Johnston, Sarah Brook and Bernadette Geraghty.

PV won the long jump and pole vault relays.
