Area does well at Perry

— The Jefferson Falcons got off to a strong start at the Division II district track meet at Perry High School.

Finishing first in the pole vault was Jacob Hamilton as he cleared 13-6 inches.

Nathan O’Connor took home the title in the discus with a throw of 142-2.

Also advnacing to regionals was the 3200-meter relay team of Lucas Hitchcok, Andy Picard, Branden Scribbes and Matthew Kantor, who finished fourth with a time of 8:45.

The Edgewood worries also had a strong day in District B at Perry as Matt Fitchet placed second in the discus with a toss of 135-1.

Finishing third in the pole vault was Zach Hutchinson with a vault of 12-0 and following closelt in fourth was teammate Kameron Manhard, who cleared 11.5.

The Grand Valley Mustangs had a strong day in District A.

Advancing for the Mustangs and advancing to regionals was Alex Oscar, who won the shot put with a throw of 48-9.5-inches. Jake Vormelker also advanced, finishing third in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.

Advancing to regionals for the Perry Pirates was the 3200-meter relay team of Devin Pritschau, Chris Jordan, Aavon Gessic and Blarhe Luszcak, who finished fourth with a time of 8:32.67.

In the pole vault, freshmen Nicholas Lauria placed first, clearing 13-0. Kyle Beyer placed second with a vault of 11-0.
