The area’s girls will take part in one last battle on the hardwood, this one a fight of mythic proportions, when they take to the floor Monday evening at Lakeside Gymnasium.
Team Athena will test its mettle against Team Medusa in the Star Beacon-Ed Batanian Senior Classic with the opening tip slated for 6 p.m. The boys game will follow 15 minutes after the conclusion of the girls contest.
Admission will be $5 with senior citizens getting in at $4. Both games will be broadcast on WFUN.
Team Medusa, wearing its road uniforms as the visitor will include Becky Depp, Sarah Depp and Lyndsey Armstrong of Geneva, Danielle Johnson and Melanie Primer of Madison, Katie Klingman and Alexis Parsons of Riverside, Ariann Barile, LeeAnn Farr and Sarah Busch of Jefferson, Heather Brant and Michealia Skleres of Pymatuning Valley and Brenna Powers and Alex Ferrante of St. John. Coaches will include Jeff Compan of PV and the legendary Rod Holmes of Jefferson.
Team Athena, which be the home team and where their white uniforms, will include Natalie Thomas and Emily O’Dell of Geneva, Abbie Trivisonno and Dana Appelfeller of Madison, Megan Tamburiello and Megan Carabotta of Riverside, Brady Nye and Kayla Sellitto of Grand Valley, Shelby Smith, Stephanie Fusco and Brianna Kingston of Lakeside, Keegan McTrusty of Edgewood, Emily Clark of Perry, Lydia Coccitto and Tori Simek and Angie Zappitelli of Conneaut. Coaches will include Mike Smith of Madison and Kim Triskett of Grand Valley.
There will be a 3-point contest at halftime of each game.
Super Dave Simpson, the Voice of the Classics, will be the voice of the classics as the master of ceremonies and 4-year-old Nathan Jernigan, the son of Luke and Katie Jernigan, will sing the Star-Spangled Banner for both contests.
