Game-check transactions are available online and by telephone seven days a week, including holidays. Landowners exempt from purchasing a turkey permit, and other people not required to purchase a turkey permit, cannot use the phone-in option.
The ODNR Division of Wildlife will update the total turkey harvest numbers on Monday, April 29, Monday, May 13, and Monday, May 20, at www.wildohio.com. The turkey harvest numbers will be listed by county as well as statewide.
The Bristol High School will host the second annual Archery in the Schools festival on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will take place at the Bristol High School, State Route 88, Bristolville, 44402 and is free to all students grades 4 through 12.
The scheduled events will include practice archery shooting followed by the tournament. The festival will conclude with awards given to the top shooters in each grade bracket for both boys and girls. All necessary equipment will be provided by Bristol High School. Genesis compound bows with Easton 1820 aluminum arrows will be the only equipment allowed for the tournament.
The Ohio’s Archery in the Schools program was introduced in 2004 with 12 pilot schools. Currently more than 400 schools participate in the program. Over 25,000 Ohio students participate in Archery in the Schools program as part of their Physical Education Curriculum. Trumbull County currently has 5 area schools participating in the Archery in the Schools program. Lordstown, Bristol, Maplewood, Matthews and Bloomfield all have an active in-school program.
Sponsors for this year’s festival will be the Trumbull County Federation of Conservation Clubs, Ohio Division of Wildlife and Bristol Schools.
The festival is FREE for any student living in Northeast Ohio.
