Logoa, Cumberledge earn state youth crowns

— Jacob Lagoa of the Ashtabula Little Lizards headlined a strong weekend for area grapplers at the Ohio Youth Wrestling Championships in Akron over the weekend.

Lagoa won the 100-pound weight class.

Ashtabula County resident David Cumberledge, wrestling for Lake Catholic, won the 105-pound state championship.

Jason Mayse of Jefferson was third at 60 pounds and Nick Burgard of the Conneaut Cougars was third at 73 pounds.

Among the wrestlers finishing fourth were Mike Hamski (Jefferson, 70 pounds), Kyle Rowan (Perry, 64 pounds) and Christian Blank (Little Lizards, 105 pounds).

Those who finished sixth included Johnny Wayslaw (Perry, 60 pounds), Dakota Ryan (Lake Catholic, 79 pounds), David Thompson (Little Lizards, 150 pounds) and Valois Ochoa (Madison, 175 pounds).
