Geneva leads Rumble

— Geneva took the first-day lead at the Riverside Rumble on Friday night at Community Fieldhouse.

The Eagles tallied 169.5 points. Hudson stands second with 161.5 and West Branch is third with 154.

Riverside is fifth with 129, Edgewood is 10th with with 85.5 and Jefferson is 12th with 57.

Will Distler (106), Anthony Barszczewski (145), Tyler Cross (152), Juan Rodriguez (170), Jason Huelskamp (195) and James Hawk (220) were first in their pools for the Eagles.

Nick Boggs (138), Connor Rigsby (182), Chad Ely (195) and Jake Militello (220) claimed their pools for the Beavers  

Tanner Perry (113), Zach Erb (120) and Jarrod Elrod (182) were first in their pools for the Warriors and Joe Baitt (132) won his pool for the Falcons.

Pymatuning Valley began the weekend on a roll.

The Lakers are tied for third place at the 20-team Dean Ford Invitational at Barnesville High School. River High School leads with 54 points, Sandy Valley is second with 43.5 and the Lakers are tied with Coshocton in third with 41.5 points.

Mitch Skleres (113 pounds), Cody Miller (138), Austin O’Baker (195) and Shawn Shreves (heavyweight) all scored a pair of pins to reach the championship semifinals.

Eight other Lakers are still alive in the consolation brackets.

Consolation wrestling begins this morning at 10 with the semifinals taking place at 11.
