Mustangs win home meet

The Grand Valley girls raced to the team championship at the Grand Valley Middle School Relays on Monday at Grand Valely Stadium.

The Mustangs won 3 events in tallying 108 points. Maplewood was second with 76, followed by Conneaut (64), Jefferson (61), Chalker (41) and Lordstown (31).

Lordstown claimed the boys title with 94 points. Jefferson was second with 85, Maplewood was third with 74, Conneaut fourth with 73, GV fifth with 20 and Chalker sixth with 16.

Julie Anna Lightcap, Isabella Strazinsky, Noel Harrison and Sydi Samsa claimed the 3,200-meter relay for the Mustangs in 13:50.7. Jessica Tropp claimed the long jump with a leap of 13-0. Josie Oscar won the shot put with a heave of 31-7.

Zehmyn Al-Amiri, Michaella Notte, Sydney Carpenter and Lillian Spees claimed the girls 400-meter shuttle hurdle relay in 1:21.3 for the Spartans. Kyra Ford, Emily Martin, Caytlin Stewart and Spees won the 412-meter ironwoman relay in 1:05.3. Martin won the discus with a throw of 77-5.

Breanna Johnson, Erin Cook, Jenna Parkomaki and Chloe Pierce of Jefferson were victorious in the 400-meter relay in 58.7.

Tyler Messenger, Seth Baldwin, Jacob Reid and Desten Alves teamed to win the boys 440-meter shuttle hurdles in 1:18.1 for Jefferson. Caden Cicon, Tyler Gramsz, Jake Stimson and J.J. Henson finished in 1:50.1 to win the 800-meter relay. The 1,600-meter relay of Tristan Osborne, Alves, Richard Price and Henson won in 4:08.5. Osborne claimed the discus with a throw of 103-0.

Conneaut’s team of Erik Peterson, Josh Leggett, Alan Christine and Mathew McBride won the 800-meter sprint medley in 1:52.9. Peterson, Leggett, Christine and Charlie Deeter won the 400-meter relay in 51.7.
