Eleven area youth wrestlers — including three champions — emerged from the district tournament at Austintown Fitch on Saturday to advance to the state tournament, which will be held Saturday at Akron Firestone.
Cole Smock (64 pounds, Pymatuning Valley), David Cumberledge (132, Ashtabula) and Riley Rowan (52, Perry) all earned district championships.
Team-wise, PV (7th), Perry (10th), Geneva (13th) and Ashtabula (20th) all placed in the top 20 of the 51-team field.
Other guys who placed and qualified for the state tournament this weekend were:
Darian Coles (Madison, second, 52 pounds), Amari Bowers (Conneaut, third, 56 pounds), Ryan Logan (PV, third, 76 pounds), Jacob Edelman (PV, third, 79 pounds), Caleb Selman (Geneva, third, 110 pounds), Charlie Taylor (Geneva, third, 175 pounds) and Joey Jaraface (Jefferson, fourth, 52 pounds).
