Despite a championship from Alex Guthrie at first singles, the Perry tennis team had to settle for second place in the Chagrin Valley Conference tennis tournament held Thursday at Perry.
Aurora won the championship by winning the titles at second and third singles and first and second doubles to finish with 29 points. Guthrie also defeated Aurora’s Nick Van Roden for the title at first singles.
Perry also had second-place finishes from Dan Walker at second singles and Brennan Sailors at third singles. The Pirates’ first-doubles team of Mike Walker and Alex Rogaski and the second-doubles team of Christian Fatica and Paul Hughes each finished third.
Perry finished with 24 points. West Geauga was third with 22 points.
