Roundup: Geneva bags Riverside

Northeastern Conference champion Geneva emerged victorious, 25-18, 27-25, 25-20, from a battle with Premier Athletic Conference co-champion Riverside behind the hitting power of Taylor Webb.
Webb had 14 aces on 37-of-41 spiking and added four blocks. Brittany Powers smacked five aces on 10-of-17 spiking and Breana Freeman was 96-97 setting with 28 aces for the Eagles (19-3, 8-0 in NEC).
The Beavers fell to 16-6 (9-1 in PAC).
n Jefferson 21-25-25-25, Conneaut 25-20-18-22 — Lizzy Ziemski tallied 11 aces on 20-of-22 spiking and three aces on 9-of-13 blocking and Sam Morford was a perfect 28-of-28 spiking with nine aces for the Falcons (11-10, 5-3 in NEC). Hailey Burns added six aces on 21-of-24 spiking. Nichele Johnson paced the Spartans (15-7, 4-4 in NEC) with 13 aces on 37-of-41 spiking and five aces on seven blocks and Sarah Campbell added eight aces on 24-of-28 spiking.
n PV 25-25-16-25, Southington 19-10-25-16 — Brandy Romanowski (31-37 spiking) and Venus Cataldo (19-27 spiking) each netted 13 aces, Becca Magyar had nine aces on 22-of-23 spiking and Kayla Landis added seven aces on 30-of-32 spiking for the Lakers (16-3, 12-3) in Northeastern Athletic Conference).
n Beaumont 25-25-25, Perry 13-16-9 — Meghan Golding smacked seven ace spikes and had one serving ace for the Pirates (10-9, 5-5 in Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division).

Boys Soccer
n Conneaut 10, LaBrae 1 — Kyle Clancy found the net four times to bring his season total to 20 to set a new team record for the Spartans (8-7-1, 1-4 in NEC). Carl Elam scored 15 times in 2003. Clancy also had an assist. Karl Clancy and Dane Malys each scored twice and had an assist and Lance Zappitella scored a goal and assisted on another.
n Geneva 1, GRA 1 — Jeff Swanson took a feed from Tyler Carlisle in the 60th minute to give Geneva (6-4-6, 2-2-2 in NEC) the tie. Dan Sindell gave GRA (4-4-3) a lead in the 20th minute on an assist from Charles Helmer.
