Roundup: Blakeslee, Lakeside conquer South Star BeaconNichole Boruta and Sarah Smith claimed a straight-set victory over Liz Elmore and Allison Misich, 6-0, 6-0, in first doubles, while the Geneva tandem of Allie Mack and Courtney Raymond defeated Elisha Swindell and Erin Miller, 6-1, 6-0 in a second doubles match.
n Perry 5, Andrews/Osborne 0 — Kaley Kahoun defeated Cindy Heiple, 6-2, 6-2, at first singles as Perry blanked Andrews. Laura Teigeler beat Stephanie Gray at second singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Emily Kahoun claimed a 6-4, 6-3, third-singles win over Alicia Kas. The tandems of Cassie Rideout and Nicole Hogan, at first doubles, and Alex Nichols and Taylor Nyman, at second doubles, were perfect in their respective matches. n Edgewood 4, NDCL 1 — Morgan Thompson and Paige Schlick needed a tiebreaker to defeated Olivia Tomsick and Christina Beebe on Thursday as Edgewood triumphed over Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. After claiming the first set, 6-2, the Edgewood pair of Thompson and Schlick dropped the second set, 0-6, before rallying for a 7-6 (10-8) triumph. In other matches, Edgewood’s Renee Mattson defeated Lisa Sahlani, 6-2, 6-0, at first singles, Connie Tate defeated Olivia Armond, 6-2, 6-2 at second singles, and Lindsey Robertson and Jennifer Meranda took down Courtney Carr and Brittney Shkil, 6-4, 6-2, in first doubles. n Lakeside 3, Harvey 2 — When they were able to actually play a match, everything went well for the Red Raiders. But those ones they couldn’t play cost them. Two forfeits, along with Taylor Palmer and Sam Reho’s win at first doubles, proved the difference maker for the Dragons. Lakesha Ferguson defeated Erika Ginn, 6-3, 6-0, at first singles and Ashley Galadya downed Megan Reichart, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, at second singles for Harvey’s two wins. Boys golf Michael Schubert shot a 4-over 39 to lift Geneva past Edgewood at Maple Ridge Golf Club. Peter Newmeyer and Kevin Beduhn each notched 40s for the Eagles. Shane Taylor led Edgewood with a 46. n Chardon 164, Lakeside 174 — Holden Parr shot a 39 and Louis Siler pitched in a 41 to lift Chardon past Lakeside at Legend Lakes. Jimmy Frey led Lakeside with a 6-over 42, while Preston Wright had a 43 and Justin Shinault finished at 44. n Jefferson 173, Harvey 217 — Eric Holodak recorded a match-low 41 and Nick Stranman pitched in a 43 to lift Jefferson at Hickory Grove.
