n TRIBE TIDBITS — Tribe Olympian Matt LaPorta hit a three-run home run in Team USA’s 7-0 win against the Netherlands.
n ON THE FARM — Mahoning Valley C Robert Alcombrack, OF Brock Simpson, 2B Isaias Velasquez, 3B Lonnie Chisenhall and LHP Eric Berger all were named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Chisenhall, the Indians’ top pick in June, entered Thursday batting .271 with four home runs and 33 RBI in 199 at-bats. Berger, the Tribe’s eighth round pick who was promoted to Lake County on Thursday, was 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA in eight starts for the Scrappers.
