Jaguars win in style

Emily Hicks clubbed a three-run walkoff homer to vault the Ohio Jaguars 16U squad to an 8-6 win against Ohio Reign to win the Sting Mecca NSA National Qualifier.
Sarah Urchek came out of manager Steve “Skipper” Urchek’s bullpen to work 6.2 innings of relief to notch the victory on the mound, allowing four hits, fanning nine and walking none.
At the plate, Meghan Cunha had a homer and a triple, Karah Barnes had three hits and Michela Skleres had a double and two RBI for the Jaguars, tho overcame a 6-0 deficit en route to winning the championship.
The locals reached the decisive game by defeating the Lightning, 2-1, in eight innings.
Cunha knocked in the tying and and goahead runs in the top of the eighth with the international tiebreaker in effect. Urchek worked all eight innings on the bump, surrendering but four hits, whiffing six and not walking a batter.
The Jaguars are managed by the Skipper and coached by the legendary one, Rod Holmes, Steve “Sasquatch” Cunha and Scott “Cliff” Francis.
