Pymatuning Valley senior Landon Hamilton and recent Geneva graduate Lara Heinz were the overall winners Saturday in the Dewey Dash sponsored by Jefferson's Henderson Memorial Library.
Hamilton won the five-kilometer race in 15:39, which brought him home exactly two minutes ahead of Jefferson senior Matt Donathan, who finished in 17:39 to claim the championship of the male 15-19 class. Former PV cross country and track coach Tony Noxon was third overall and won the male 40-49 age group in 17:57.
Heinz finished in 21:11 and was the fourth overall finisher. She finished more than two minutes ahead of Diane Gregg, who won the 40-49 age group in 23:25 and was eighth of all runners. Geneva senior Kala Fasuk was the third female in 23:36, won the women's 15-19 age group and was the ninth overall finisher.
Ken Noble won the men's 30-39 age group in 22:27 and was sixth overall. Ken Wheeler was second to Noxon in the 40-49 age group and was fifth overall in 21:26. Bob Stasny was third in that class in 26:14 and was 14th overall.
Ron Yarian won the men's 70-and-over class in an amazing 22:46 and was seventh overall. Bill Evans won the 50-59 group in 27:10 and was 16th overall to defeat Kirk Snyder, who was 18th overall in 28:11. John Sargent won the 60-69 bracket for men in 29:56 and was 19th overall.
Lori Brown was second in the 40-49 class for women in 23:48 and was 10th overall, while Judy Jones was third in that division and 13th overall in 24:56. Tina Fuller won the 30-39 age group and was 11th overall in 24:12, leading Shawna Bryan, who was 12th overall in 24:21 and Wendi O'Brien, who was 15th overall in 26:52. Amanda Heinz won the women's 20-29 division and was 17th overall in 27:32.
