Matt Sielski pitched Grand Valley into a Division III sectional championship game today at Ursuline by throwing a three-hitter Tuesday to power the Mustangs past LaBrae, 4-1.
Grand Valley (8-15) made the most of just five hits to build a 3-0 lead after three innings, which included a two-run rally in the third, and made it stand up behind Sielski’s pitching, which included eight strikeouts and no walks.
Sielski also helped himself at the plate by driving in two runs. Zach Sirrine had two hits, including a double, for the Mustangs, while Kevin George had a double and scored twice.

A seven-run third inning carried Jefferson to a 10-4 victory behind Adam and Kevin Placek and Zak Blair. Adam Placek went the first four innings to get the win for the Falcons (19-4, 10-1). Zak Graf and Ryan Morford each had two hits and two RBI for Jefferson, while Andy Saksa added two hits, including a double, and two runs and Anthony Paneto contributed two hits, including a double, while C.J. Graf, Johnathan Wilson and Dustin VolanSki also doubled. Chad Bucci led Conneaut (5-13, 1-10) with two hits and two RBI, while Cody Blood doubled.
n Edgewood 13, Harvey 11 — The Warriors scored nine runs in the second inning and made them stand up, although the Red Raiders kept chipping away. B.J. Severino was the recipient of all the support for Edgewood (15-7, 5-6). Catcher Michael Schupska led the offense for the Warriors with four hits, while Devon Anderson added three hits, three runs and two RBI. Tom Dunham cracked a homer among two hits and drove in three runs, Jesse Long had two hits, two runs and two RBI and Greg Motter contributed two hits and three runs. Mick Mohner doubled twice and drove in two runs for Harvey (10-12, 4-6), Adrian Wooten homered among two hits, scored twice and drove in two, Brian Rowan added two hits and two runs, Matt Betteley had two hits, including a double, and drove in two, C.J. Davis homered among two hits and Chris Fields also belted a homer and scored twice.

Aaron Suydam led off the seventh inning with a single, moved to third on the second of Andrew Brown’s two doubles and scored on a wild pitch to end a wild 14-13 game for Riverside against Geneva. Suydam made a winner of Alan Moyer for the Beavers (13-8, 8-1 Premier Athletic Conference with two hits and three runs scored, while Ryan Kupniewski had two hits, three runs and two RBI, Mickie Tufts had two hits and two runs, Mike Rossi and Nick Walters each added two hits and Mike Nicholson scored twice. Jimmy Doherty led Geneva (12-8, 7-4 NEC) with three hits, including a double, and three RBI, while Nate Horgan also doubled among two hits and scored twice, Bobby Jewell had two hits and three runs, Matt Freeman contributed two hits and three RBI, Brian Jewell scored twice, Darius Rowan supplied two hits and Jake Depp scored twice.
