Beavers improve to 8-1 in league play with victory

Trailing 1-0 after three innings, Riverside came up with all its runs over the next three innings, including four in the sixth, to defeat archrival Madison on Friday in Premier Athletic Conference action.

Nick Walters went the distance for Riverside (12-7, 8-1), scattering eight hits, striking out eight and walking one and helping himself with two hits, including a double. Justin Nockengust homered among two hits and scored twice, catcher Kyle Shaffer had two hits and drove in three runs, Mike Rossi tripled among two hits and Andrew Brown scored twice for the Beavers. Brad Morrison doubled for Madison (8-12, 4-6).

n Chardon 5, Lakeside 4 — The Dragons rallied to tie the game at four in the fifth inning, but the Hilltoppers scored the decisive run in the sixth. That negated a nine-hit, three-strikeout, one walk performance by Nick Traikoff. Andy DeDomenic led Lakeside (3-17, 0-9) with three hits, including a double, and two RBI, while Max McConnell also had two hits.

n Canfield 10, Jefferson 0 — The Falcons were limited to just two hits in the first game of the doubleheader. Dustin Volanski and Andy Saksa had the only hits for Jefferson.

n Canfield 5, Jefferson 4 — Two earned runs in the midst of a three-run sixth gave Canfield (22-2) a sweep of the doubleheader.
