Published May 10, 2008 02:41 am - Gia Saturday and Meagan Ellison combined on a no-hitter in the first game to lead the Kingsville Rockies to a 7-0 win over Rock Creek, then followed up with a 23-8 win over the Conneaut in major softball action Friday. Saturday struck out eight batters and Ellison fanned four more in the win over Rock Creek. Zhen-Zhen Eidens had two hits, including a home run, Mercedes Burns added two hits and Saturday doubled. In the game against Conneaut, Ellison struck out nine batters and Saturday fanned five more. Ellison also helped herself with three hits, while Hayley Hall had three more hits and Burns tripled and doubled among three hits. Eidens added a homer and double. Minor BB Joey Zappitelli blasted a grand slam to carry the North Kingsville Cubs to a 6-5 win over the Conneaut A’s. Daniel Joslin struck out six batters, while Connor McLaughlin doubled among two hits, Lance Butler added two hits and two runs and Alex Kisha tripled. Dillon Campbell led off the game for the A’s with a home run, while Mikey Teed had two hits, including a double. n Dodgers 6, Cubs 3 — Danny Hough struck out 13 Cubs in his team’s win. Marshal Campbell, Mitchell Dragon and Zack Taylor all had hits for the Dodgers. Tanner Shank homered for the Cubs. Major BB Tyler Cox threw a two-hitter and struck out 17 batters to lead the Mets to a 2-1 win over the Red Sox. Chandler Lower tripled and C.J. Rice drove in a run for the Mets. Kyle Sprinkle tripled and scored the only run for the Red Sox. Junior BB Frank Clayman pitched and hit the Ashtabula Yankees to a 12-2 win over Kingsville. He gave up just two hits and struck out 10 batters on the mound and contributed three hits, including a triple, at the plate. Adam Bahr and Brandon Gibson each added three hits for the Yankees (3-0), while Steven Lanham tripled among two hits and Chris Estock doubled among two hits.
