The legs of Lauren Childs and the arm of Megan Dragon provided Edgewood with a 2-1 victory in eight innings Saturday over Lakeside in non-conference softball action.
Childs started off the bottom of the eighth inning with a bunt single, her second of the game. She stole second and then third. The throw trying to nab her at third went awry, allowing her to score the winning run.
Dragon won a battle of three-hitters with Christina Hutchison. Dragon struck out 12 batters and walked just two, including one intentionally for Edgewood (15-4, 8-0 Northeastern Conference). Hutchison struck out eight batters and walked two. The Dragons (4-9, 2-6 PAC) could capitalize on two doubles by Mallory Zappitelli and another by Hutchison.
