Pistons should worry
ESPN basketball analyst Stephen A. Smith said LeBron James just might be inside the Detroit Pistons’ heads, primarily because of the way James performed in the playoffs last season and how it has carried over.
Smith cited James’ game against the Pistons on Wednesday night — 30 points in an 89-73 victory — and a particular moment in which Tayshaun Prince played toreador and allowed James to coast through the lane for an easy layup.
He said that he thought the Pistons would come out of the Eastern Conference this year, but is rethinking that. Smith said that if the Pistons don’t find a way to stop the Cavaliers, who are clearly more confident when James is playing, then their coach, Flip Saunders, could be looking for a job next year.
Waltrip on idle
After last week’s NASCAR race, Fox analyst Darrell Waltrip, who was fighting laryngitis, joked that the race left him speechless. Turns out he was more than right. A doctor with the Vanderbilt Voice Clinic diagnosed the analyst with severely inflamed vocal cords and ordered him to limit his speaking. Waltrip will return to the circuit March 30.
Tournament tip
Because I know that many of you would never watch NCAA Tournament basketball at work, I feel the need to report that there’s a “Boss Button” on the CBS site for March Madness on Demand.
