Christmas Shoppe returns to Saybrook in all its holiday glory

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — The 40th Annual Christmas Shoppe will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30 at the new St. John School, formerly Saybrook Elementary School, 7911 Depot Road.

The school has been the home of the Christmas Shoppe for more than 30 years, and the place where about 80 juried crafters will offer their hand-created items at reasonable prices.

Most of the old favorites will be back, plus some exciting new ones. And, of course, Santa is expected to drop by.

Lunch and snacks will be served by the good cooks of Saybrook United Methodist Church in the beautiful, new, St. John cafeteria, under the direction of Judy and Lloyd Richards.

There will be many door prizes furnished by the crafters plus a lovely alpaca item donated by Diane Watson and a live door swag by Roberta Forinash.

Admission is $1 for adults, 50-cents for students, and ages 6 and younger are free.

There is a handicap ramp at the front door facing Depot Road and there will be designated parking, plus another  ramp at the new cafeteria door at the back of the school.

The benefactors of St. John have done an awesome job of remodeling  the 80-plus year-old school and the enthusiasm of the crafters being able to return to Saybrook has been heart warming.

Janet Loftus Wilkinson who originated the first Christmas Shoppe in her home has sent word from her new home in Georgia, wishing everyone a great 40th anniversary.
