Snowmen and women will again add color to downtown Main Street this winter, thanks to the Conneaut Area Chamber of Commerce and UH Conneaut Medical Center.
For the second straight year, the two are teaming up to sponsor the decorating contest. Three $25 gift cards will be given the top entry in the following categories: Non-commercial (charity/non-profit), commercial (business) and private (family or individual).
Contestants decorate wooden cutouts available at the Chamber office, located Main and Washington streets, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. A handful of the cutouts are still available, but all entries must be completed and returned to the Chamber office no later than Wednesday, officials said. Entries must be able to weather the elements.
Lori Kingston, outreach coordinator at CMC, broached the idea of a second snowman contest, according to a statement from Wendy DuBey, Chamber executive director
“Wendy said she was very pleased at the number of entries last year,” Kingston said in the statement. “We have seen this project really take off in other areas, and the timing couldn’t be better. It’s a great diversion for people who are looking for ways to avoid the letdown after the holidays.”
DuBey is looking forward to this year’s entries, according to the statement. “We know there are many creative minds in the Conneaut area and (last year) we were not disappointed,” she said.
