After School Discovery sets fund-raising goal

Star Beacon

ASHTABULA — After School Discovery has announced the beginning of their fiscal year 2013 Annual Appeal fundraising campaign.

The goal for this year’s campaign is to reach $10,000 in donations. These funds will go toward the after school programming services available from ASD.

Right now, ASD has a Junior High After School Program (Club 212), an after-school tutoring program (Strive 4 Success), a before and after school student care program (Discovery Cove) and the “other half” of the Kindergarten Day (Kinder Cove). ASD also provides services for Gifted and Talented Classes, after school clubs and Connect 4 Success Learning Support services.

ASD has made the commitment to the Ashtabula community that if the goal is reached, any funds received over the $10,000 will be allocated for scholarships to the new Kinder Cove program.

Many kindergarten students are struggling with only having a half day of academic instruction, and the ASD Kinder Cove program supports the students in the other half of the missed school day; however,  many families cannot afford this expense.

For any further information about donating to ASD or contracting for their services, please call the After School Discovery Business Office at 440-993-1060.
