Farmers’ market to host corn muffin contest

— Jefferson Farmers’ Market will host its 2013 Corn Muffin Contest.

Saturday, Aug. 24, the Jefferson Farmers’ Market will again sponsor a baking contest as part of the Jefferson Historical Society’s Corn Fest.

Entering is very simple. The corn muffins must be “scratch-made.” No mixes may be used. One ingredient must be cornmeal. The muffin may be sweetened or not. All entries must be presented at the market by 11 a.m. on the day of the event.

The winner will receive $25 in market vouchers, a certificate proclaiming the winning entry as “Jefferson’s Best Corn Muffin 2013” and a market shopping bag.

The Farmers’ Market this is held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 32 E. Jefferson St. Bring an entry or watch the judging and choose from the area’s freshest produce and maple products.
