“Lights of Love,” an annual fundraiser for the Conneaut Area Chamber of Commerce, will have a bittersweet glow this holiday season.
This year’s “Lights” will be the first without its founder, Sarah Schenck, who died in July at age 85. Schenck was a local businesswoman when she launched the event in 1982, according to her obituary.
To commemorate her involvement in the program, a limited edition ornament will be available in her memory this year. The ornament is $20 and available by special order at the Chamber of Commerce office, Main and Washington streets.
The program gives people the opportunity to honor or remember a friend or relative via a symbolic light that will shine from a tree on the grounds of Conneaut Savings Bank, 305 Main St. A ceremony to illuminate the tree will be Nov. 29, immediately following the city Christmas parade.
Cost is $5 and includes a tree ornament and mention in a special page to be published by the Star Beacon. For more information on “Lights of Love,” contact the Chamber office at 593-2402.
