Geneva man faces drug charges

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Geneva man is facing multiple drug charges after allegedly trying to escape police on Thursday morning near the Kwik-Fill gas station on Route 534 just southeast of Interstate 90, Detective Greg Leonhard of the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law enforcement Agency said.

Leonard said members of TAG were conducting surveillance on Carl Testerman Sr., 45, because of an outstanding warrant, when the officers tried to make a traffic stop and he fled allegedly throwing items from the vehicle.

Leonhard said a second TAG vehicle was able to block his escape route from the gas station parking lot and he was quickly arrested. He said officers then found items thrown from the vehicle.

“We found three packets of methamphetamines (6.1 grams) and one small packet of heroin (.3 grams) and suboxone,” he said.

Leonhard said Testerman will be charged with drug trafficking in methamphetamines, trafficking in heroin and possession of suboxone.

“He is currently in Ashtabula County Jail and will probably be arraigned tomorrow (today),” Leonhard said. He said he will also be charged with failure to comply.
