N. Kingsville run/walk to return on Saturday

NORTH KINGSVILLE — The second edition of a run/walk that helps the North Kingsville Wood-lands and Wetlands Preser-vation Committee will be held Saturday, organizers said.

Run for the Woodlands 5K and one-mile run/walk begins at 9 a.m. at the North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 6546 Church St.

Donation is $25, and first-, second- and third-place winners will receive wooden medallions. Every participant will receive a bracelet.

The race/walk course will include new trails through a forest maintained by committee members.

Participants can register at the event or online at bridge2bridge.webs.com.

A pancake breakfast will be held at the church the morning of the event starting at 8 a.m.

A Chinese auction will also be offered.

The committee was formed last year to acquire and protect dozens of acres of forest in the vicinity of routes 20 and 193 slated to be cut for lumber.

Since then, the group has agreed to become stewards for another 200 acres of land on Middle Road obtained by the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, members said.
