Students raise funds for field trips at Rock Creek and Jefferson Elementary schools

Star Beacon

— With the beginning of the school year comes the beginning of school fundraisers.

Both Rock Creek Elementary and Jefferson Elementary have had their kickoff day for selling magazine subscriptions, newspaper subscriptions, cookie dough, assorted nuts, and many other items.

Older students will be selling different items than the younger students. The fundraiser will run from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4.

The purpose of the fundraisers is to help cover the expense of field trips. School field trips are often the highlight of a student’s year. Jefferson Elementary principal Todd Tulino said his school’s goal is for each grade to have their own field trip this year.

Northeast Ohio has a wealth of worthwhile places for children to visit and many families cannot afford to visit these places on their own.

For these students, school field trips are the only way they ever get to see a play, view famous works of art, or see live, wild animals up close.
